2. According to the report of the Secretary-General on the management of peacekeeping assets (A/50/907), the principal functions of the Logistics Base are:
٢ - وحسبما يشير تقرير اﻷمين العام عن إدارة أصول عمليات حفظ السلام )A/50/907( تضطلع قاعدة السوقيات بمهمتين هما:

(b) Report of the Secretary-General on the management of natural and environmental disasters in small island developing States (E/CN.17/1996/20/Add.1);

11. As stated in the report of the Secretary-General on the management of peacekeeping assets, dated 3 July 1995 (A/49/936), the three principal functions of the United Nations Logistics Base were originally defined as being:
١١ - مثلما ورد في تقرير اﻷمين العام بشأن إدارة أصول حفظ السلام المؤرخ ٣ تموز/يوليه ١٩٩٥ (A/49/936)، تحددت المهام الرئيسية الثلاث للقاعدة في اﻷصل على النحو التالي:

As to the transfer of surplus assets from existing or closed missions to active ones, the procedures being followed are as described in the report of the Secretary-General on the management of peacekeeping assets (A/50/965).
وفيما يختص بنقل اﻷصول الفائضة من البعثات الموجودة أو المصفاة إلى بعثات عاملة، فإن اﻹجراءات المتبعة حاليا هي المبينة في تقرير اﻷمين العام عن إدارة أصول حفظ السلام )A/50/965(.

2. It is necessary at the beginning to recapitulate the principal functions of the Logistics Base as stipulated in the report of the Secretary-General on the management of peacekeeping assets (A/50/907), namely:

(a) Report of the Secretary-General on the management of peacekeeping assets: surplus asset storage facilities and mission start-up kits at the United Nations Logistics Base, Brindisi (A/50/907);
)أ( تقرير اﻷمين العام عن إدارة أصول حفظ السلام: مرافق تخزين اﻷصول الفائضة ومجموعات المواد المخصصة لبدء البعثات في قاعدة اﻷمم المتحدة للسوقيات في برينديزي (A/50/907)؛

18. As indicated in paragraph 30 of the report of the Secretary-General on the management of peace-keeping assets of 3 July 1995 (A/49/963), the United Nations Logistics Base at Brindisi would be financed in 1995 on an ad hoc basis from within the existing budget of the United Nations Protection Force as well as other missions.
١٨ - أشير في الفقرة ٣٠ من تقرير اﻷمين العام عن إدارة موجودات حفظ السلام المؤرخ ٣ تموز/يوليه ١٩٩٥ الى أن قاعدة اﻷمم المتحدة لﻹمدادات في برينديسي سيتم تمويلها خلال عام ١٩٩٥ بصورة خاصة من داخل الميزانية القائمة لقوة الحماية التابعة لﻷمم المتحدة والبعثات اﻷخرى أيضا.

Turning to the report of the Secretary-General on the management of peacekeeping assets (A/50/965), the European Union had noted the comments of the Advisory Committee regarding the Secretary-General's proposal to develop a separate cataloguing and codification system for managing peacekeeping assets, based on the NATO codification system.
٢٨ - وبشأن تقرير اﻷمين العام عن إدارة أصول حفظ السلام (A/50/965)، لاحظ الاتحاد اﻷوروبي تعليقات اللجنة الاستشارية على اقتراح اﻷمين العام بأن يُستحدث نظام مستقل للفهرسة والترميز فيما يتصل بإدارة أصول حفظ السلام، بناء على نظام الترميز لدى منظمة حلف شمال اﻷطلسي.

21. As was indicated in paragraph 30 of the report of the Secretary-General on the management of peace-keeping assets of 3 July 1995 (A/49/936), the United Nations Logistics Base at Brindisi was to be financed in 1995 on an ad hoc basis from within the budgets of the United Nations Peace Forces as well as other missions.
٢١- وكما أشير في الفقرة ٣٠ من تقرير اﻷمين العام عن إدارة أصول حفظ السلام المؤرخ ٣ تموز/ يوليه ١٩٩٥ )A/49/936(، فإنه يتعيﱠن تمويل قاعدة سوقيات اﻷمم المتحدة في برينديزي في عام ١٩٩٥ على أساس مخصص من داخل ميزانيات قوات السلام التابعة لﻷمم المتحدة وكذلك ميزانيات البعثات اﻷخرى.

The report of the Secretary-General on the management of peacekeeping assets was submitted pursuant to General Assembly decision 50/500 of 17 September 1996, in which the Assembly requested a follow-up to the Secretary-General's report of 29 May 1996 (A/50/965), on the matériel management aspects.
٩١ - قدم تقرير اﻷمين العام عن إدارة أصول حفظ السلام عملا بمقرر الجمعية العامة ٠٥/٠٠٥ المؤرخ ٧١ أيلول/سبتمبر ٦٩٩١، وبمقتضاه طالبت الجمعية العامة بمتابعة لتقرير اﻷمين العام المؤرخ ٩٢ أيار/ مايو ٦٩٩١ )A/50/965(، بشأن جوانب إدارة المعدات.

In accordance with the methodology for the accounting of assets set out in the report of the Secretary-General on the management of peacekeeping assets dated 29 May 1996 (A/50/965), assets transferred to other peacekeeping operations, to the United Nations Logistics Base at Brindisi, Italy, and to activities financed under the United Nations regular budget are stated at their original values (see annex I.B).
٩ - ووفقا لمنهجية المحاسبة المتوخاة بشأن الموجودات والمبينة في تقرير اﻷمين العام عن إدارة أصول حفظ السلام المؤرخ ٩٢ أيار/مايو ٦٩٩١ )A/50/965(، فإن اﻷصول المنقولة إلى عمليات أخرى لحفظ السلام، وإلى قاعدة اﻷمم المتحدة للسوقيات في برينديزي، إيطاليا، وإلى أنشطة ممولة من الميزانية العادية لﻷمم المتحدة، قد أدرجت في الحسابات بقيمها اﻷصلية )انظر المرفق اﻷول - باء(.

1. In its resolution 52/1 of 15 October 1997, the General Assembly endorsed the proposals for the development and implementation of the field assets control system contained in the report of the Secretary-General on the management of peacekeeping assets dated 31 July 1997 (A/51/957).
١ - وافقت الجمعية العامـة فـي قرارهـا ٥٢/١ المؤرخ ١٥ تشرين اﻷول/أكتوبر ١٩٩٧ علـى المقترحـات الداعية إلى وضع وتنفيذ نظام مراقبة اﻷصول الميدانية الوارد في تقرير اﻷمين العام بشأن إدارة أصول حفظ السلام المؤرخ ٣١ تموز/يوليه ١٩٩٧ (A/51/957).
