١٨ - ينبغي أن تكون ولاية اللجنة الخاصة للتحقيق محدودة بإطار زمني، أي أن يكون واضحا ما إذا كانت هذه الهيئة مخصصة الغرض ومدة وجودها محدودة، وما إذا كان يتعين تجديدها بصورة منتظمة أو ما إذا كانت اللجنة هيئة دائمة ينبغي أن تضطلع بولايتها إلى أجل غير مسمى.

Prior to the meeting with the chairman and members of the Consultative Council for Human Rights, on 2 August, the Special Rapporteur held a meeting with the Chairman and members of the Special Investigation Committee on Allegations of Enforced or Involuntary Disappearances and Reported Cases of Slavery.
٨ - قبل أن يجتمع المقرر الخاص برئيس وأعضاء المجلس الاستشاري لحقوق اﻹنسان، في ٢ آب/ أغسطس، قام بعقد اجتماع مع رئيس وأعضاء اللجنة الخاصة للتحقيق في الادعاءات المتعلقة بحالات الاختفاء القسري أو غير الطوعي وحالات الرق المبلﱠغ عنها.

The Chairman, a lawyer in Khartoum, and other members informed the Special Rapporteur about the mandate and the activities of the Special Investigation Committee. Although the duration of the Special Committee's mandate is not defined by a set date, its first activity report was due by 15 August 1996.
