Despite the fact that several States now include information on disability in their periodic reports, the study on human rights and disability notes that States tend to report on disability just under article 23, and not under all the rights protected by the Convention.

The implementation of the recommendations contained in the study on human rights and disability may have a considerable impact on the promotion and protection of the human rights of persons with disabilities.

Chapter 13 of the study on human rights and disability concluded that a new convention on the human rights of persons with disabilities would represent an additional tool for strengthening the promotion and protection of the human rights of persons with disabilities.
43- ويخلص الفصل 13 من الدراسة عن حقوق الإنسان والإعاقة إلى أنه من شأن اتفاقية جديدة بشأن حقوق الإنسان للمعوقين أن تشكل وسيلة إضافية لزيادة تعزيز وحماية حقوق الإنسان للمعوقين.

After expressing its interest in the study on human rights and terrorism and in the oral statement by the Special Rapporteur concerning the basis and the orientation of the study, the Sub-Commission adopted resolution 1998/29 on 26 August 1998, in which it requested the Special Rapporteur to submit her preliminary report at its fiftyfirst session.
وبعد أن أعربت اللجنة الفرعية عن اهتمامها بالدراسة المتعلقة بحقوق الإنسان والإرهاب وبالبيان الشفوي الذي أدلت به المقررة الخاصة فيما يتصل بأساس الدراسة ووجهتها، اعتمدت القرار 1998/29 المؤرخ 26 آب/أغسطس 1998 الذي طلبت فيه من المقررة الخاصة أن تقدم إليها تقريرها الأولي في دورتها الحادية والخمسين.

In the light of Commission resolution 2000/51 and General Assembly resolution 56/168, the Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights hereby submits for the information of the Commission an executive summary of the findings of the study on human rights and disability, which is currently being finalized.
