The Assistant Secretary-General noted, however, that the programme of exchange of family visits between the Territory and the refugee camps in the Tindouf area of Algeria, an important confidence-building measure, was expected to resume in November 2006 after being suspended in May 2006.

11. With regard to confidence-building measures, the programme of exchange of family visits between the Territory and the refugee camps in the Tindouf area had been resumed on 25 November 2005 after an 11-month hiatus.
11 - وفيما يتعلق بتدابير بناء الثقة، استؤنف في 25 تشرين الثاني/نوفمبر 2005، برنامج تبادل الزيارات العائلية بين الإقليم ومخيمات اللاجئين في منطقة تندوف بعد توقف مؤقت دام 11 شهرا.

In this connection, it is recalled that the Frente POLISARIO had insisted that only those persons whose names appeared on the MINURSO provisional list of voters should be entitled to benefit from the exchange between the Territory and the refugee camps.

14. Regrettably, the exchange of family visits between the Territory and the refugee camps in the Tindouf area did not resume during the reporting period.

I also look forward to the implementation, as soon as possible, of the other basic confidence-building measures, particularly the mail service and the organization of seminars involving members of civil society in both the Territory and the refugee camps in the Tindouf area.

33. I am pleased to report that on 3 November 2006, after a six-month hiatus, UNHCR and MINURSO were able to resume the programme of exchange of family visits between the Territory and the refugee camps in the Tindouf area.
33 - يسرني الإبلاغ بأن مفوضية الأمم المتحدة لشؤون اللاجئين وبعثة الأمم المتحدة للاستفتاء في الصحراء الغربية تمكنتا في 3 تشرين الثاني/نوفمبر 2006، بعد انقطاع دام ستة أشهر، من استئناف برنامج تبادل الزيارات الأسرية بين الإقليم ومخيمات اللاجئين في منطقة تندوف.

8. With regard to confidence-building measures, the Secretary-General informed the Security Council that the exchange of family visits between the Territory and the refugee camps in the Tindouf area did not resume, although the Frente POLISARIO and Algeria, as the country of asylum, had approved a plan of action that had been submitted by UNHCR, in consultation with MINURSO, in early January 2005.
8 - وفيما يتعلق بتدابير بناء الثقة، أبلغ الأمين العام مجلس الأمن بأن تبادل الزيارات العائلية بين الإقليم ومخيمات اللاجئين في منطقة تندوف لم يستأنف رغم أن جبهة البوليساريو والجزائر، بوصفها بلد اللجوء، وافقتا على خطة العمل التي قدمتها المفوضية في مستهل كانون الثاني/يناير 2005، بالتشاور مع البعثة.
