For each of the topics included in the present report, there is a brief summary of overall trends and tendencies, a description of the most salient issues related to the topic indicating its relevance, actions contemplated by the Plan of Action (if any), measures adopted by Governments and by the international community, and an assessment of the implementation of the Plan of Action.

1. Since the Third Review Conference (7-17 November 2006), a number of contributions (proposals, working papers, statements, comments, observations) were made on the topics included in the Provisional Programme of Work of the Second 2008 session of the GGE (CCW/GGE/2008-II/2).
1- قُدِّم منذ انعقاد المؤتمر الاستعراضي الثالث (7-17 تشرين الثاني/نوفمبر 2006) عدد من المساهمات (اقتراحات، وثائق عمل، بيانات، تعليقات، ملاحظات) بشأن المواضيع المدرجة في برنامج العمل المؤقت للدورة الثانية التي سيعقدها فريق الخبراء الحكوميين في عام 2008 (CCW/GGE/2008-II/2).

The Commission requested the Special Rapporteur to continue working on the topics included in his first report (E/CN.4/2002/97 and Add.1) and, in particular, those that may contribute to advance the debate on fundamental issues of the " Draft United Nations declaration on the rights of indigenous peoples " .

The Preparatory Committee also noted with satisfaction that the Office for Outer Space Affairs had prepared background papers (A/CONF.184/BP/1–12), covering the topics included in the provisional agenda for UNISPACE III, and expressed its appreciation to those space agencies, international organizations, space-related institutions and experts who had contributed information or reviewed those papers.
