(iii) The strategies and priorities, within the framework of sustainable development plans and/or policies, to combat desertification and mitigate the effects of drought and any relevant information on their implementation.

(b) assessing the results of efforts to combat desertification and mitigate drought.

1. Given the central importance of financing to the achievement of the objective of the Convention, the Parties, taking into account their capabilities, shall make every effort to ensure that adequate financial resources are available for programmes to combat desertification and mitigate the effects of drought.
١- بالنظر إلى اﻷهمية المحورية للتمويل في تحقيق هدف الاتفاقية، تقوم اﻷطراف، واضعة قدراتها في الحسبان، ببذل كل جهد لضمان توافر موارد مالية كافية للبرامج الرامية إلى مكافحة التصحر وتخفيف آثار الجفاف.

1. Given the central importance of financing to the achievement of the objective of the Convention, the Parties, taking into account their capabilities, shall make every effort to ensure that adequate financial resources are available for programmes to combat desertification and mitigate the effects of drought.

(a) Mobilize substantial financial resources, including grants and concessional loans, in order to support the implementation of programmes to combat desertification and mitigate the effects of drought;

`٤` تقديم توصيات لتعزيز المشاركة في اﻷبحاث المعنية بالتكنولوجيا والمعرفة والدراية والممارسات التقليدية والمحلية ذات الصلة بمكافحة التصحر وتخفيف آثار الجفاف، وذلك بواسطة أمور منها الاستفادة من المعلومات والخدمات التي يقدمها السكان المحليون والهيئات اﻷخرى المختصة، بما في ذلك المنظمات الحكومية الدولية والمنظمات غير الحكومية.

The Permanent Inter—State Committee for Drought Control in the Sahel (CILSS), which since its foundation in 1973 has worked with its member States to combat desertification and mitigate the effects of drought, welcomes the invitation from the CCD secretariat which will enable it to contribute effectively to the work to be assigned to the Committee on Science and Technology (CST).

(e) Direct and guide the resources mobilized for the purpose of the Convention, including its own resources, made available from bilateral and multilateral sources, as appropriate, in a predictable and timely fashion to national, subregional and regional levels for the implementation of action programmes and projects to combat desertification and mitigate the effects of drought in affected developing country Parties, particularly those in Africa.

5. In order to mobilize the financial resources necessary for affected developing country Parties to combat desertification and mitigate the effects of drought, the Parties shall:
٥ - من أجل تعبئة الموارد المالية اللازمة لﻷطراف من البلدان النامية المتأثرة بغية مكافحة التصحر وتخفيف آثار الجفاف، تقوم اﻷطراف بما يلي:

Affirming that human beings in affected or threatened areas are at the centre of concerns to combat desertification and mitigate the effects of drought,
إذ تؤكد أن البشر الذين يعيشون في المناطق أو المهددة يمثلون محور الشواغل المتعلقة بمكافحة التصحر والتخفيف من آثار الجفاف،

Generally speaking, the reports supply scant information on progress in relation to new and renewable energies in efforts to combat desertification and mitigate the effects of drought.

(viii) A regional action programme to combat desertification and mitigate impacts of drought is being developed through six thematic programme networks under the auspices of a regional coordination unit hosted by AfDB;
