The Chair drew the Committee's attention to the rules of procedure of the General Assembly applicable to elections and to paragraph 16 of General Assembly decision 34/401 on the rationalization of the procedures and organization of the General Assembly concerning the practice of dispensing with the secret ballot for elections to subsidiary organs when the number of candidates corresponded to the number of seats to be filled.
