The present note is submitted pursuant to Human Rights Council decision 7/29, in which the Council requested the Secretary-General to submit to the Council, at its tenth session, a report on the rights of the child, with information on the status of the Convention on the Rights of the Child.

1. In its resolution 7/10 of 27 March 2008, on human rights and arbitrary deprivation of nationality, the Human Rights Council requested the Secretary-General " to collect information on this question from all relevant sources and to make it available to the Council at its tenth session " .
1- إن مجلس حقوق الإنسان، في قراره 7/10 المؤرخ 27 آذار/مارس 2008 والمتعلق بحقوق الإنسان والحرمان التعسفي من الجنسية قد طلب إلى الأمين العام " جمع معلومات عن هذه المسألة من جميع المصادر ذات الصلة وإتاحتها للمجلس كي ينظر فيها في دورته العاشرة " .

The Council is invited to consider whether a final report providing information on OHCHR activities related to minorities in 2008 and a review of relevant developments arising out of the work of the treaty bodies, special procedures and the universal periodic review process should be submitted to the Council at its tenth session.

In its resolution S-8/1, the Council invited the High Commissioner to report to the Council at its tenth session on the human rights situation in the east of the Democratic Republic of the Congo and on the activities that OHCHR has undertaken in the region.

2. The present report to the Council addresses the developments that have occurred since the last report on this issue was submitted to the Council at its tenth session (A/HRC/10/35).

18. In its resolution 7/25, the Council requested the High Commissioner to circulate the reports of the Secretary-General submitted to the Council in order to obtain the views of States, relevant United Nations agencies, treaty bodies and special procedures on those reports, including on possible warning signs that might lead to genocide, and to report to the Council at its tenth session.

7. From 23 to 27 June 2008, the Special Rapporteur attended the fifteenth meeting of special rapporteurs/representatives, independent experts and chairpersons of working groups of the special procedures of the Council, held in Geneva, and participated in the drafting of the report submitted to the Council at its tenth session (A/HRC/10/24).

28. The Advisory Committee will have before it for adoption a draft report on its second session prepared by the Rapporteur, to be transmitted, together with the report on its first session, to the Council at its tenth session, in accordance with the annual programme of work for the third cycle of the Council (2008/2009).
