The Permanent Mission of the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea to the United Nations presents its compliments to the Secretary-General and has the honour to enclose a communiqué from the Mission to the States Members of the United Nations.

matters of which it is seized, we would have preferred that the Council had refrained from undertaking an exercise of this nature and that it had continued to act responsibly by consulting in timely fashion with the Member States concerned by those items it might ultimately decide to retain, rather than give this responsibility to the States Members of the Organization.

To that end, the Assembly, affirming its support for the programme of work of the Standing Advisory Committee on Security Questions in Central Africa, requested the Secretary-General to continue to provide assistance to the States Members of the Committee and to report to it at its fifty-second session on the implementation of the resolution.
وطلبت الجمعية إلى اﻷمين العام، تحقيقا لهذه الغاية وبعد التأكيد على تأييدها لبرنامج عمل اللجنة الاستشارية الدائمة المعنية بمسائل اﻷمن في وسط افريقيا، أن يواصل تقديم المساعدة إلى الدول اﻷعضاء في تلك اللجنة وأن يقدم اليها في دورتها الثانية والخمسين تقريرا عن تنفيذ القرار.

The resolution calls for the United Nations International Drug Control Programme to examine forms of assistance which could be extended to the States Members of the zone and for the Executive Director of the United Nations International Drug Control Programme to report on progress to the Commission at its forty-second session in 1998.

226. As in previous inquiries, information from Member States had been sought by means of letters from the ICSC Chairman to the States Members of the United Nations.

I take this opportunity to reiterate to the States Members of the United Nations my invitation to them to increase their support for the Guatemala peace process and, in particular, their support for MINUGUA, whose activities are, in the view of both parties, critical to the success of this historic endeavour.
