32- إن ظهور الجنوب الدينامي والنمو المذهل في مجالي التجارة والاستثمار بين الجنوب والجنوب، وذلك ما يُطلق عليه في كثير من الأحيان الجغرافيا التجارية الجديدة، يتيحان فرصة هامة تمكن دينامية الجنوب من الذهاب إلى أبعد من مجرد السعي إلى الحصول على موارد طبيعية وأسواق جديدة، لتسهم في التنمية الاقتصادية والاجتماعية لجميع البلدان، بصرف النظر عن مستوياتها الإنمائية.

33. South-South trade is an important aspect of an emerging new trade geography, whereby the developing countries as a whole are progressively becoming a source of growth of the world economy and trade.

A new task is to analyse the evolving new trade geography of the South focusing on (a) the importance of the South as an engine of growth and development, (b) South-South trade at the intraregional level and increasingly at the interregional level, particularly via support for the third round of GSTP negotiations launched at the Conference and (c) increasing North-South trade relations.
