In this context it should also be mentioned that Italy is the only industrialized Country with relevant immigration flows that has ratified ILO Convention No. 143 on Migrations in Abusive Conditions and the Promotion of Equality of Opportunity and treatment of migrant workers.

38. The protection of workers employed in a country other than their own, through formulation of international standards for the treatment of migrant workers, has always been an important activity of the International Labour Organization (ILO).
