Substantive preparations for this meeting were initiated by the coordinating secretariats of the United Nations and OIC.

14. The meeting expressed appreciation for the consolidated papers submitted by the United Nations and OIC reviewing the ways and means of enhancing the actual mechanisms of cooperation between the two Organizations.
١٤ - وأعرب الاجتماع عن التقدير للورقات الموحدة المقدمة من اﻷمم المتحدة ومنظمة المؤتمر اﻹسلامي والتي تستعرض سبل ووسائل تعزيز آليات التعاون الحالية بين المنظمتين.

The United Nations and OIC have worked together to facilitate negotiations between Darfuri armed movements and the Government of the Sudan.
وقد عملت الأمم المتحدة ومنظمة التعاون الإسلامي معا لتيسير المفاوضات بين الحركات المسلحة في دارفور وحكومة السودان.

On the operational level, the Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs and OIC are working closely in Somalia and the Philippines and, more recently, in Syria, where the United Nations and OIC carried out a joint humanitarian needs assessment.
