At its thirty-second meeting, the Committee had decided that upcoming ministerial meetings should include on their agenda the consideration of General Assembly resolution 65/189, adopted on the initiative of Gabon on 2 December 2010 and entitled " International Widows' Day " , on the need to protect widows and their children.
27 - قررت اللجنة في اجتماعها الثاني والثلاثين أن تضمّن جدول أعمال اجتماعاتها الوزارية اللاحقة النظر في قرار الجمعية العامة 65/189، الذي اتخذته بناء على مبادرة من غابون في كانون الأول/ديسمبر 2010 بعنوان " اليوم الدولي للأرامل " ، وذلك من أجل التوعية بضرورة حماية الأرامل وأطفالهن.

The draft resolution would declare 23 June every year as International Widows' Day, thus raising awareness globally of the situation of widows and their children and providing an opportunity to express solidarity with widows everywhere.
واختتم حديثه قائلاً إن مشروع القرار سوف يعلن أن يوم 23 حزيران/يونيه من كل عام هو " اليوم الدولي للأرامل " ، وهو ما من شأنه إثارة الوعي على المستوى العالمي بوضع الأرامل وأطفالهن وإتاحة فرصة للتعبير عن التضامن مع الأرامل في كل مكان.

:: Over three quarters of a billion widows and their children live in extreme poverty (one ninth (11 per cent) of the world's population), leading widows to desperate " choices " to feed children, particularly pulling them, particularly daughters, out of school into arranged early marriages and other exploitative situations (begging, child labour, even trafficking).
