Her delegation supported the activities of the working group on the issue of discrimination against women in law and in practice and the extension until 2014 of the mandate of the Special Rapporteur on trafficking in persons, especially women and children.

My delegation welcomes the establishment of the two special procedures mandates, the post of special rapporteur on the right of freedom of association and of assembly and the working group on the elimination of discrimination against women in law and in practice.

They also applauded the recent establishment by the Human Rights Council of the new Working Group on discrimination against women in law and in practice, which could provide States with follow-up and tailored advice.

Regarding the strengthening of the system of special procedures, the decision to appoint a special rapporteur on the rights to freedom of assembly and of association should be mentioned, as should the establishment of a working group of experts on the elimination of discrimination against women in law and in practice.

42. The Working Group on the issue of discrimination against women in law and in practice presented its first report to the Council (A/HRC/20/28).

On 11 March, the Special Rapporteur attended the fifty-seventh session of the Commission on the Status of Women and held, together with the Vice-Chair of the Working Group on the issue of discrimination against women in law and in practice, an interactive dialogue with the States members of the Commission.
