2. The provisional agenda for the forty-first session of the Working Party was approved on Thursday 22 May at the second part the Working Party's fortieth session.

The representative of Ireland, speaking as President of the European Council, said that one of the priority objectives of the Working Party was to ensure that UNCTAD’s work programme faithfully reflected the decisions taken at UNCTAD IX. It was also important to ensure that there was no confusion over the purpose of the Working Party’s session.

3. Members of the Working Party noted that, at the Working Party’s previous session, they had been requested to provide the secretariat with written comments on the proposed revisions and expressed their disappointment that a number of their comments had not been taken into account.

At the Working Party's forty-third session in 2004, members agreed to an in-depth evaluation of UNCTAD's technical cooperation programme on accession to the World Trade Organization for discussion at the forty-seventh session in September 2006 dealing with technical cooperation activities.

29. At the twenty-seventh session of the FAO Committee on Fisheries in March 2007, the Coordinating Working Party on Fisheries Statistics recommended that FAO establish a consolidated catch database based on the publicly available data and under the Working Party's general guidelines.

At its 1040th plenary meeting, the Board approved decision 500, whereby the report on the Working Party's fifty-second (resumed) session (TD/B/WP/210) to the fifty-sixth (resumed) session of the Board was approved (see section I. E).

In that connection, he regretted that the outcome of the Working Party's previous session had not adequately reflected his and other delegations' opposition to having a separate work programme on LDCs.

At the next meeting of the Working Party in May/June, the official fascicle of the UNCTAD section of the proposed programme budget would be made available to the Working Party for its consideration, and the outcome of the Working Party's deliberations would be brought directly to the attention of the central reviewing bodies, namely ACABQ and the General Assembly.
وفي الاجتماع القادم للفرقة العاملة المقرر عقده في الفترة أيار/مايو - حزيران/يونيه فإن الملزَمة الرسمية الخاصة بباب الأونكتاد من الميزانية البرنامجية المقترحة ستتاح للفرقة العاملة لتنظر فيها، وسيوجَّه مباشرة نظرا الهيئتين الاستعراضيتين المركزيتين، أي اللجنة الاستشارية لشؤون الإدارة والميزانية، والجمعية العامة، إلى حصيلة مداولات الفرقة العاملة في هذا الشأن.

While they recognized that the information provided on each publication and the design had been improved and provided a useful basis for the Working Party's review of the work programme under item 3 (a), they encouraged the secretariat to devise additional methods to ensure greater levels of participation and feedback from member States in order to provide better guidance to the secretariat in its planning.

The representative of Sri Lanka welcomed the Working Party's decision, which took care of the immediate requirements, and hoped that discussions for a complete solution would prove fruitful.
