21. At the invitation of the Chairperson, Ms. Abaka took a place at the Committee table.

Ms. Abaka said that it was essential to take affirmative measures to counteract the short-term negative effects that the structural adjustment was having on women, the elderly and children.

10. Ms. Abaka agreed that it was encouraging that the Government of Ethiopia had approved the Beijing Platform for Action without reservation and had made concrete commitments to implement it.
١٠ - السيدة آباكا: رأت في قبول الحكومة الاثيوبية لمنهاج عمل بيجين بدون تحفظ وإبداءها التزاما قويا بتنفيذه علامة مشجعة.

127. During the ensuing interactive dialogue, at the same meeting, the following made statements and put questions to Ms. Abaka:

30. Ms. Abaka expressed satisfaction that the Government intended to review the existing arrangements with respect to young mothers who wished to resume their education after giving birth.
30 - السيدة آباكا: أعربت عن ارتياحها لكون الحكومة تنوي إعادة النظر في الترتيبات القائمة فيما يتعلق بالأمهات الشابات اللواتي يرغبن في استئناف دراستهن بعد الولادة.
