Stresses its resolve to strengthen the United Nations machinery for international drug control, in particular the United Nations International Drug Control Programme, in order to be able to fulfil its mandate, and takes note of the recommendations contained in Economic and Social Council resolution 1999/30 of 28 July 1999;

٣٣ - نظرت اللجنة ، في جلستيها ٦٦١١ و ٧٦١١ المعقودتين يوم ٨١ آذار/مارس ٩٩٩١ ، في البند ٥ من جدول أعمالها ، المعنون : " تدعيم آلية اﻷمم المتحدة للمراقبة الدولية للمخدرات " .

The Commission emphasized the need to strengthen the Board to enable it to implement fully the mandates entrusted to it by the international drug control treaties, as suggested by the High-level Expert Group to Review the United Nations International Drug Control Programme and to Strengthen the United Nations machinery for International Drug Control.
وشددت اللجنة على ضرورة تقوية الهيئة بغية تمكينها من الوفاء التام بالمهام المنوطة بها بموجب المعاهدات الدولية المتعلقة بمراقبة المخدرات ، مثلما أشار الى ذلك فريق الخبراء الرفيع المستوى المعني باستعراض برنامج اﻷمم المتحدة للمراقبة الدولية للمخدرات وتعزيز آلية اﻷمم المتحدة للمراقبة الدولية للمخدرات .

Pursuant to Economic and Social Council resolution 1997/37 of 21 July 1997, the Secretary-General has the honour to submit to the General Assembly at its twentieth special session the attached report of the expert group convened to review the United Nations International Drug Control Programme and to strengthen the United Nations machinery for international drug control.

On the recommendation of the Commission at its fortieth session, the Economic and Social Council adopted resolution 1997/37, entitled “Review of the United Nations International Drug Control Programme: strengthening the United Nations machinery for international drug control within the scope of the existing international drug control treaties and in accordance with the basic principles of the Charter of the United Nations”.
بناء على توصية من اللجنة في دورتها اﻷربعين ، اعتمد المجلس الاقتصادي والاجتماعي القرار ٧٩٩١/٧٣ المعنون " استعراض برنامج اﻷمم المتحدة للمراقبة الدولية للمخدرات : تدعيم آلية اﻷمم المتحدة للمراقبة الدولية للمخدرات في نطاق المعاهدات الحالية للمراقبة الدولية للمخدرات ووفقا للمبادئ اﻷساسية لميثاق اﻷمم المتحدة " .

The Advisory Committee was informed by the Executive Director that, pursuant to the Economic and Social Council resolution 1997/37 of 21 July 1997, the Secretary-General is submitting to the forty-second session of the Commission on Narcotic Drugs the report of the High-level Expert Group entrusted to review UNDCP and to strengthen the United Nations machinery for international drug control (E/CN.7/1999/5).
