٢٩-٢٧ يهدف نظام التخزين والاسترجاع باستخدام اﻷقراص البصرية، الذي وافقت عليه الجمعية العامة في قرارها ٤٤/٢٠١ الى إنشاء نظام كامل التشغيل لتخزين وثائق الهيئات التداولية في اﻷمم المتحدة على أقراص بصرية كنصوص مرمزة أو وثائق تعتمد على الصور، والى أن يكون بمثابة نظام للاسترجاع المباشر لتلك الوثائق بواسطة محطات الحواسيب البعيدة، لعرضها على الشاشات أو في نسخ مطبوعة.
