On 16 July 2014, the Committee and the Human Rights Committee held a joint informal consultation, hosted by the Geneva Academy of International Humanitarian Law and Human Rights, to exchange their respective jurisprudence on abortion and on the minimum age of marriage.

49. On 27 March 2012, Committee members participated in a discussion, hosted by the Geneva Academy of International Humanitarian Law and Human Rights, on the implementation of the Convention and the future challenges of the Committee.

21. On 3 April, the Special Rapporteur participated in a meeting organized by the Geneva Academy of International Humanitarian Law and Human Rights on the " Agenda for Human Rights " , an initiative of the Government of Switzerland to commemorate the sixtieth anniversary of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights.

As part of the preparatory phase of the project for 2014, UNIDIR, in partnership with the Geneva Academy of International Humanitarian Law and Human Rights, convened an expert meeting in December 2013 on armed drones and robots in the context of international law.

13. On 14 and 15 July, the Special Rapporteur participated in an expert seminar on the duty to investigate after attacks in situations of armed conflict and armed violence, organized in Lucens, Switzerland, by the Geneva Academy of International Humanitarian Law and Human Rights.

From 23 to 25 February 2014, the Special Rapporteur participated in an expert seminar on the theme " The right to privacy in the digital age " , hosted by the Permanent Missions of Austria, Brazil, Germany, Liechtenstein, Mexico, Norway and Switzerland in Geneva, and facilitated by the Geneva Academy of International Humanitarian Law and Human Rights, in Geneva.

The Coordinator presented a paper on behalf of the Geneva Academy of International Humanitarian Law and Human Rights entitled " A Need for Greater Restrictions on the Use of Improvised Explosive Devices? " The paper considered whether IEDs were inherently indiscriminate and explained legal restrictions on their use in armed conflict.
