Subsequently, the President of Angola, Mr. José Eduardo dos Santos, and the President of UNITA, Mr. Jonas Savimbi, confirmed their determination to pursue the peace process until a comprehensive peace agreement was achieved.

4. On 3 August 1998, Mr. Brahimi was received by President José Eduardo dos Santos, who expressed his frustration and deep concern over the dangerous impasse in the peace process, as a result of UNITA's non-compliance with its major commitments under the Lusaka Protocol.

With regard to crisis-settlement in Africa, Angola provides a source of great satisfaction with the signing of the Lusaka Protocol of 20 November 1994, and especially with the meetings at Lusaka and at Cape Town between President José Eduardo dos Santos and Mr. Jonas Savimbi.
وفي الحديث عن تسوية اﻷزمات في افريقيا نجد أن أنغولا، بالتوقيع على بروتوكول لوساكا المؤرخ ٢٠ تشرين الثاني/نوفمبر ١٩٩٤، وخاصة في ضوء الاجتماعات المعقودة في لوساكا وكيب تاون بين الرئيس خوسيه ادواردو دوس سانتوس، والسيد سافيمبي قد أصبحت تشكل مصدرا للارتياح البالغ.

The Government, and President José Eduardo dos Santos, considered that " the allegations made by UNITA were nothing but diversionary tactics on the eve of the meeting of the Security Council on Angola " and cited several other political, diplomatic and military reasons in rejecting the allegations.

28. The Summit received a Report from the Outgoing Chairperson of the Organ on Politics, Defence and Security Cooperation, H.E. President José Eduardo dos Santos, on the implementation of the Strategic Indicative Plan of the Organ (SIPO), with specific reference to the political and security situation in the region.
28- وتلقى مؤتمر القمة تقريراً من رئيس جهاز التعاون السياسي والدفاعي والأمني المنتهية ولايته فخامة الرئيس خوسيه ادواردو دوس سانتوس، بشأن تنفيذ الخطة الإستراتيجية الإرشادية للجهاز، مع الإشارة بصفة محددة إلى الوضع السياسي والأمني في المنطقة الإقليمية.
