On 15 October 2007, LTTE committed in writing, in line with the Optional Protocol to the Convention on the Rights of the Child on the involvement of children in armed conflict and the recommendations of the Security Council Working Group on Children and Armed Conflict, to change its policy on the minimum age of recruitment from 17 to 18 years.
