On behalf of the Government and people of Cambodia, we write to you to ask for the assistance of the United Nations and the international community in bringing to justice those persons responsible for the GENOCIDE AND crimes against humanity during the rule of the Khmer Rouge from 1975 to 1979.
نكتب إليكم، بالنيابة عن حكومة كمبوديا وشعبها، التماسا لمساعدة اﻷمم المتحدة والمجتمع الدولي في تقديم اﻷشخاص المسؤولين عن أعمال اﻹبادة الجماعية والجرائم المرتكبة ضد اﻹنسانية أثناء حكم الخمير الحمر في الفترة من عام ١٩٧٥ إلى ١٩٧٩ إلى العدالة.

1. Affirms that the failure to prosecute persons responsible for acts of piracy and armed robbery at sea off the coast of Somalia undermines anti-piracy efforts of the international community;
1 - يؤكد أن عدم محاكمة الأشخاص المسؤولين عن أعمال القرصنة والسطو المسلح في البحر قبالة سواحل الصومال يقوض جهود مكافحة القرصنة التي يبذلها المجتمع الدولي؛

The Council was briefed by Under-Secretary-General for Legal Affairs, the Legal Counsel, Patricia O'Brien, who laid out the key points of the report of the Secretary-General on possible options to further the aim of prosecuting and imprisoning persons responsible for acts of piracy and armed robbery at sea off the coast of Somalia.
واستمع المجلس إلى إحاطة قدمتها باتريشيا أوبراين وكيلة الأمين العام للشؤون القانونية، والمستشارة القانونية التي أتت على ذكر النقاط الرئيسية الواردة في تقرير الأمين العام بشأن الخيارات الممكنة لتعزيز هدف محاكمة وسجن الأشخاص المسؤولين عن أعمال القرصنة والسطو المسلح في البحر قبالة سواحل الصومال.

The need for regular review of progress achieved in prosecution and imprisonment of persons responsible for acts of piracy and armed robbery at sea was also emphasized, with a view to considering possible future steps to ensure that such persons are held accountable.
وتم التشديد أيضا على الحاجة إلى القيام بمراجعة منتظمة للتقدم المحرز في محاكمة وسجن الأشخاص المسؤولين عن أعمال القرصنة والسطو المسلح في البحر، بغية النظر في الخطوات المستقبلية الممكنة لكفالة مساءلة هؤلاء الأشخاص.

The Council further requests the Commission to establish a technical working group to analyse and make an input to United Nations initiatives regarding the prosecution and imprisonment of persons responsible for acts of piracy and armed robbery at sea, with the view to making them more comprehensive.
ويطلب المجلس كذلك إلى المفوضية أن تنشئ فريقا عاملا تقنيا لتحليل الوضع وتقديم إسهامات في مبادرات الأمم المتحدة المتعلقة بمقاضاة وسجن الأشخاص المسؤولين عن أعمال القرصنة والسطو المسلح في عرض البحر بهدف زيادة نطاق شمول تلك المبادرات.

1. Affirms that the failure to prosecute persons responsible for acts of piracy and armed robbery at sea off the coast of Somalia undermines antipiracy efforts of the international community;

(a) To ensure, in cooperation with the Indonesian National Commission on Human Rights, that the persons responsible for acts of violence and flagrant and systematic violations of human rights are brought to justice;

29. CAT urged that the exercise of the universal jurisdiction over persons responsible for acts of torture, including foreign perpetrators who are temporarily present in Canada, be ensured.
29- وحثت لجنة مناهضة التعذيب على ضمان ممارسة الولاية القضائية العالمية على الأشخاص المسؤولين عن أعمال تعذيب، بمن فيهم الأجانب الذين يوجدون بصورة مؤقتة في كندا(72).

" The Council emphasizes the need for regular review of progress achieved in the prosecution and imprisonment of persons responsible for acts of piracy and armed robbery at sea off the coast of Somalia, including those who incite or intentionally facilitate such acts, with a view to considering possible further steps to ensure that such persons are held accountable.

We welcomed with satisfaction the first annual report of the International Criminal Tribunal for the Prosecution of Persons Responsible for GENOCIDE AND Other Serious Violations of International Humanitarian Law Committed in the Territory of Rwanda.
ونرحب مع الارتياح بالتقرير السنوي اﻷول للمحكمة الجنائية الدولية لمحاكمة اﻷشخاص المسؤولين عن أعمال اﻹبــادة الجماعيــة وغير ذلك من الانتهاكـات الجسيمة للقانون اﻹنساني الدولي المرتكبة في إقليم رواندا.

The Committee encourages the State party to seek closer cooperation with civil society in preventing torture, in particular in the ongoing process of investigating and holding persons accountable for the post-election violence.
