According to a recent International Federation of Human Rights (FIDH) report:

FIDH is concerned that the President of the Republic is not under any obligation to consult the Higher Judiciary Council.

According to FIDH, they have been severely repressed since the declaration of the state of emergency.

Since then, according to FIDH, there has been a tacit legal ban on demonstrations.

FIDH added that women have to face much worse treatment than men in court, as they have to face massive cultural prejudice.

FIDH added that family law in United Arab Emirates is governed by Islamic Shari'a courts consisting of only men.
وأضاف الاتحاد الدولي لحقوق الإنسان أن قانون الأسرة في الإمارات تحكمه المحاكم الإسلامية المؤلفة من رجال فقط.

Nevertheless, as highlighted by FIDH, domestic law has not been amended accordingly.
ومع ذلك لم يعدَّل القانون المحلي وفقاً لذلك، كما أوضح الاتحاد الدولي لحقوق الإنسان.
