In its resolution 67/184, the General Assembly requested the Secretary-General to facilitate the organization of regional preparatory meetings for the Thirteenth Congress and to make available the necessary resources for the participation of the least developed countries in those meetings and in the Congress itself, in accordance with past practice and in consultation with Member States.

The share for sub-Saharan Africa, which received about 25 per cent of total expenditures in 1990, increased to 27 per cent in 1993 but declined again in 1994, despite the high proportion of the least developed countries in that region.

3- وطلبت الجمعية العامة إلى الأمين العام ، في قرارها 62/173، أن ييسّر تنظيم الاجتماعات الإقليمية التحضيرية لمؤتمر الأمم المتحدة الثاني عشر لمنع الجريمة والعدالة الجنائية، كما طلبت إليه أن يتيح الموارد اللازمة لمشاركة أقل البلدان نموا في تلك الاجتماعات وفي المؤتمر ذاته، وفقا للممارسة المتّبعة في الماضي.

6. In the event that no voluntary contributions are received by the Secretariat before the opening of the first session of the Preparatory Committee, alternative funding for the participation of the least developed countries in that session could be provided by the utilization, on an exceptional basis, of the savings on exchange rates achieved since the beginning of the current year in respect of the regular budget appropriation for UNCTAD.
6 - وفي حالة ما إذا لم تتلق الأمانة العامة أي تبرع قبل افتتاح الدورة الأولى للجنة التحضيرية، فإن الوسيلة البديلة لتمويل مشاركة أقل البلدان نموا في تلك الدورة يمكن توفيرها بالقيام، بصفة استثنائية، باستخدام الوفورات المحققة في أسعار الصرف منذ بداية السنة الحالية فيما يتعلق باعتمادات الميزانية العادية لمؤتمر الأمم المتحدة للتجارة والتنمية.
