A primary focus of those statements and directives has been the elimination of all forms of discrimination against women. وقد أتت على رأس هذه الأقوال والتوجيهات إزالة جميع أشكال التمييز ضد المرأة، حيث اعتمد السلطان نهجا سعى من خلاله في العديد من المحافل والمناسبات إلى تشجيع المرأة وحثها على المشاركة في الشئون العامة للبلاد، والتأكيد على أهمية تأهيلها وممارستها لكافة حقوقها.

وقد كفل الميثاق حقوق المرأة السياسية، حيث نص على أن الشعب هو مصدر السلطات جميعاً، وان للمرأة البحرينية الحق الكامل في ممارسة حقوقها السياسية وخصوصاً حقي الترشيح والتصويت في الانتخابات العامة، حيث جاء في هذا الميثاق النص على الآتي: " يتمتع المواطنون رجالاً ونساء بحق المشاركة في الشئون العامة والتمتع بالحقوق السياسية في البلاد بدءاً بحق الانتخاب والترشيح طبقاً لأحكام القانون " .

Article 1 (e) of the Amended Bahraini Constitution of 2002 states, " Citizens, both men and women, are entitled to participate in public affairs and may enjoy political rights, including the right to vote and to stand for elections, in accordance with this Constitution and the conditions and principles laid down by law. No citizen can be deprived of the right to vote or to nominate oneself for elections except by law " .
139 - أورد الدستور البحريني المعدل في عام 2002م بالمادة الأولى فقرة هـ ما يلي " للمواطنين، رجالا ونساء حق المشاركة في الشئون العامة والتمتع بالحقوق السياسية، بما فيها حق الانتخاب والترشيح وذلك وفقا لهذا الدستور وللشروط والأوضاع التي يبينها القانون ولا يجوز أن يحرم أحد المواطنين من حق الانتخاب أو الترشيح إلا وفقا للقانون " .
