17. Mr. Ruales explained that the Organization-Led Initiative was organized in response to two invitations by the Forum to the Collaborative Partnership on Forests, in the resolution of the special session of the ninth session of the Forum, and the resolution adopted at the ninth session.

He emphasized that the Organization-Led Initiative had deepened understanding and knowledge on the state of forest financing and had clarified and broadened the scope of information for a knowledge-based discussion and negotiations grounded in reliable data during the second meeting of the Ad Hoc Expert Group.
وأكد أن المبادرة التي تقودها المنظمات عمقت الفهم لحالة تمويل الغابات والدراية بها، ووضّحت ووسّعت نطاق المعلومات الكفيلة بإجراء مناقشة تقوم على المعارف وعقد مفاوضات تستند إلى بيانات ذات موثوقية خلال الاجتماع الثاني لفريق الخبراء المخصص.

At the international level, the Organization-Led Initiative recommended considering combining different funding mechanisms, examining the impact of corruption, recognizing the broad and varied nature of the private sector, the special consideration to dryland forests, and the need to improve understanding of sustainable forest management.
وعلى الصعيد الدولي، أوصت المبادرة التي تقودها المنظمات بالنظر في الجمع بين آليات تمويل مختلفة، ودراسة تأثير الفساد، والاعتراف بطبيعة القطاع الخاص العريضة والمتنوعة، وإيلاء اعتبار خاص لغابات الأراضي الجافة، وبضرورة تحسين فهم الإدارة المستدامة للغابات.

The Co-Chairs of the Organization-Led Initiative submitted a summary of key actions, recommendations and suggestions highlighted during the meeting to the Open-ended Intergovernmental Ad Hoc Expert Group at its second meeting (E/CN.18/AEG/2013/2, annex).
وقدم رئيسا المبادرة التي تقودها المنظمات موجزا للإجراءات والتوصيات والاقتراحات الرئيسية التي تم التركيز عليها خلال الاجتماع إلى فريق الخبراء الحكومي الدولي المخصص المفتوح باب العضوية المعني بتمويل الغابات في اجتماعه الثاني (E/CN.18/AEG/2013/2، المرفق).

Regarding practical suggestions to improve national databases and address some of the data gaps, such as with the private sector, it was noted that the Organization-Led Initiative recommends that Collaborative Partnership on Forests members work together on an integrated system of data generation in collaboration with countries; and the study lists different data collection mechanisms.

In response, the Partnership convened a two-day retreat in June 2011, in Orvieto, Italy, where it reached an agreement on its workplan for 2011 and 2012, including its contributions to activities related to forest financing, the workplan of the Advisory Group on Finance and the venue and date for the Organization-Led Initiative.

Also invites the members of the Collaborative Partnership on Forests to expand and update the 2008 finance paper for the second meeting of the Open-ended Intergovernmental Ad Hoc Expert Group on Forest Financing, and to provide proposals to the Organization-Led Initiative referred to above, including on strengthening and improving access to funds and establishing a voluntary global forest fund;
