21. The Conference recognizes the role of IAEA as the sole body responsible for verifying, in accordance with the statute of IAEA and the Agency's safeguards system, compliance with its safeguards agreements with States parties undertaken in fulfilment of their obligations under article III, paragraph 1, of the Treaty, with a view to preventing diversion of nuclear energy from peaceful uses to nuclear weapons or other nuclear explosive devices.
٢١ - ويسلم المؤتمر بدور الوكالة بوصفها الهيئة الوحيدة المسؤولة، وفقا للنظام اﻷساسي للوكالة ونظام ضماناتها، عن التحقق من الامتثال لاتفاقات الضمانات المبرمة مع الدول اﻷطراف وفاء بالتزاماتها بموجب الفقرة ١ من المادة الثالثة من المعاهدة، وبغية منع تحويل استخدام الطاقة النووية من اﻷغراض السلمية إلى أغراض اﻷسلحة النووية أو غيرها من اﻷجهزة النووية المتفجرة.
