Global Initiative to End All Corporal Punishment of Children (GIEACPC) indicated that corporal punishment of children was lawful in Mauritius despite the Government's acceptance of relevant recommendations made during the UPR in 2009 and the repeated recommendations on the issue by the Committee on the Rights of the Child and other treaty bodies, i.e. Committee on Economic, Social and Cultural Rights and Committee against Torture.
