Consequently, the government has made several efforts to promote the advancement of women in political and public life within the framework of the Women's Development Plan and the Constitution (details below).

285. The Committee calls upon the State party to take measures, with benchmarks and concrete timetables, to increase the number of women in political and public life, at all levels and in all areas, in the light of its general recommendation No. 23 on women in political and public life.

26. The Committee is concerned that no temporary special measures pursuant to its general recommendations No. 23 (1997) on women in political and public life and No. 25 (2004) on temporary special measures have been taken by the State party to deal with gender equality issues.
26- يساور اللجنة قلق بشأن عدم اتخاذ الدولة الطرف أي تدابير خاصة مؤقتة للتعامل مع قضايا المساواة بين الجنسين عملاً بالتوصية العامة رقم 23(لعام 1997) المتعلقة بالمرأة في الحياة السياسية والعامة والتوصية العامة رقم 25(لعام 2004) المتعلقة بالتدابير الخاصة المؤقتة الصادرتين عن اللجنة.

The Committee, while recalling its general recommendation No. 23 on women in political and public life (1997), recommends that the State party implements awareness-raising activities for society as a whole on the importance of women's participation in decision-making, and to develop targeted training and mentoring programmes on leadership and negotiation skills for current and potential women candidates and women holding public office.
