Members will recall that at the forty-seventh session of the General Assembly an Informal Open-ended Working Group on An Agenda for Peace was established, and the President of the Assembly designated the Permanent Representative of Egypt, His Excellency Mr. Nabil El Araby, its Chairman.

Subject to any decision that may be taken in that connection at the fifty-first session of the General Assembly, the Informal Open-ended Working Group on An Agenda for Peace would continue its work during the fifty-first session of the Assembly.

This is why we attach particular importance to the successful completion of the work of the Informal Open-ended Working Group of the General Assembly on An Agenda for Peace.

Subject to any directives which the General Assembly might give in that connection, it is recommended that the Informal Open-ended Working Group on An Agenda for Peace reconvene its meetings during the fiftieth session of the Assembly.
ورهنا بأية توجيهـــــات يمكن أن تعطيها الجمعية العامة في هذا الصدد، يوصى بأن يعقد الفريق العامل غير الرسمي المفتوح العضوية بشأن خطة للسلام جلساته مجـــددا خلال الدورة الخمسين للجمعية.

In this context, the General Assembly must have a greater role, and it is desirable that the recommendations of the Assembly's Informal Open-ended Working Group on An Agenda for Peace contribute to the preparation of resolutions for the strengthening of peace.
وفي هذا السياق، يجب أن يصبح دور الجمعية العامة أكبر، ومن المرغوب فيه أن تسهم توصيات الفريق العامل غير الرسمي المفتوح العضوية بشأن خطة للسلام في إعداد قرارات لتعزيز السلم.

36. Many delegations noted with satisfaction the ongoing debates taking place on " An Agenda for Peace " in the Informal Open-ended Working Group of the General Assembly as well as in the Working Group of the Security Council.
٦٣ - ولاحظت وفود عديدة مع الارتياح المناقشات المستمرة الجارية بشأن " خطة للسلام " في الفريق العامل غير الرسمي المفتوح العضوية التابع للجمعية العامة وكذلك في الفريق العامل التابع لمجلس اﻷمن.

65. The process of debate in the General Assembly on " An agenda for peace " resulted in Assembly resolution 47/120 B adopted on 20 September 1993.
٥٦ - وقـــد أسفـرت عمليـــة المناقشة فـــي الجمعية العامة بشأن " خطة للسلام " عن قرار الجمعية ٤٧/١٢٠ باء الذي اتخذ في ٢٠ أيلول/سبتمبر ١٩٩٣.

68. In my statement to the General Assembly following the adoption of resolution 47/120 B on " An agenda for peace " , I welcomed the Assembly's positive response on the subject of special problems arising from the implementation of preventive or enforcement measures.

In this connection, my delegation wishes to commend Mr. Boutros Boutros-Ghali, the Secretary-General, for his initiatives on “An Agenda for Peace” and “An Agenda for Development”.

The first-ever Summit Meeting of the Security Council (January 1992) and the subsequent report to the Council on An Agenda for Peace launched an international debate on the role of the United Nations in maintaining international peace and security under these new circumstances and engendered an ongoing process of initiative, discovery and reflection.
وأول اجتماع قمة عقده مجلس اﻷمن في تاريخه )كانون الثاني/يناير ١٩٩٢(، والتقرير الذي نتج عنه وقدم للمجلس بشأن " خطة للسلام " ، كانا بداية لحوار دولي حول دور اﻷمم المتحدة في صيانة السلم واﻷمن الدوليين في ظل هذه الظروف الجديدة وانطويا على عمليــة مســتمرة للمبادأة والاكتشاف والتأمل.

In addition, a number of specific measures were taken in the light of various requests made by Member States during their deliberations on “An Agenda for Peace”.

Since preventive diplomacy, good offices and peacemaking efforts constituted one of the pillars of the Organization's work, as affirmed in the 1992-1997 medium-term plan, the outline of the budget and the General Assembly resolutions on " An Agenda for Peace " , there was a consequent need to strengthen activities in that area.
