(i) Make recommendations on ways and means to identify and use technology, knowledge, know-how and practices relevant to combating desertification and mitigating the effects of drought.
`١` تقديم توصيات بشأن طرق ووسائل تحديد واستخدام التكنولوجيا والمعرفة والدراية والممارسات ذات الصلة بمكافحة التصحر وتخفيف آثار الجفاف؛

Its purpose is to provide the Conference of the Parties with an up-to-date list of independent experts in the various fields of specialization relating to combating desertification and mitigating the effects of drought, from which members of ad hoc panels may be selected.
والغرض من هذه القائمة هو موافاة مؤتمر اﻷطراف بقائمة مستكملة بخبراء مستقلين في مختلف ميادين التخصص ذات الصلة بمكافحة التصحر وتخفيف آثار الجفاف، يجوز أن يُنتقى منها أعضاء اﻷفرقة المخصصة.

(iv) Make recommendations for promoting participative research on relevant traditional and local technology, knowledge, know-how and practices to combat desertification and mitigate the effects of drought through, inter alia, the utilization of information and services provided by local populations and other competent bodies, including intergovernmental and non-governmental organizations.
`٤` تقديم توصيات لتعزيز المشاركة في اﻷبحاث المعنية بالتكنولوجيا والمعرفة والدراية والممارسات التقليدية والمحلية ذات الصلة بمكافحة التصحر وتخفيف آثار الجفاف، وذلك بواسطة أمور منها الاستفادة من المعلومات والخدمات التي يقدمها السكان المحليون والهيئات اﻷخرى المختصة، بما في ذلك المنظمات الحكومية الدولية والمنظمات غير الحكومية.
