Mr. Flinterman, welcoming the State party's intention to amend its discriminatory Nationality Act, which deprived Bahraini women married to foreigners of the right to transmit their nationality to their children, said that the Committee would appreciate more information on the obstacles impeding its speedy implementation and a date by which the amended Act might be adopted.

82. With regard to article 8 of the Covenant, the Committee welcomes the State party's intention to consider ratification of ILO Conventions No. 87 (Freedom of Association and Protection of the Right to Organize Convention, 1948), No. 98 (Right to Organize and Collective Bargaining Convention, 1949) and No. 151 (Labour Relations (Public Service) Convention, 1978).

(17) While noting the State party's intention to raise the minimum age of criminal responsibility to 12 years, the Committee is deeply concerned that it remains established at 8 years of age, that detained children are not fully segregated from adults, that a large number of children are sentenced to jail terms for minor offences and that corporal punishment is lawful and frequently used in juvenile prisons, such as in the Kutoarjo prison.
(17) فيما تحيط اللجنة علماً بنية الدولة الطرف رفع الحد الأدنى لسن المسؤولية الجنائية إلى 12 سنة، فإنها تعرب عن بالغ قلقها لكونها لا تزال محددة بسن 8 سنوات. ولعدم فصل الأطفال المحتجزين فصلاً تاماً عن الكبار، والحكم بالسجن على عدد كبير من الأطفال لارتكابهم مخالفات بسيطة، ولمشروعية العقوبة البدنية وكثرة حالات استخدامها في سجون الأحداث مثل سجن كوتوارجو.

In this context the Committee also welcomes the intention of the State party to ratify ILO Convention No. 169 on Indigenous and Tribal Peoples (169).
وفي هذا السياق، ترحب اللجنة أيضا بنية الدولة الطرف في تصديق اتفاقية منظمة العمل الدولية رقم ١٦٩ المتعلقة بالشعوب اﻷصلية والقبلية)١٦٩(.

While taking note of the intention of the State party to incorporate the principle of best interests of the child in the domestic legislation, the Committee is concerned that the principle of the best interests of the child is not yet reflected in legislation and appears not to be fully respected in practice.
