Another important step in developing the science - policy interface for the UNCCD was taken in 2012 as the development of a Scientific Knowledge Brokering Portal advanced.

9. This document represents a progress report on the improvements made to UNCCD knowledge management with a focus on the Scientific Knowledge Brokering Portal (SKBP) that is to be steered by the CST.

Utilization of the Scientific Knowledge Brokering Portal (SKBP) of the UNCCD, both by accessing the portal as a user and by making local scientific documents, papers, and databases available and searchable through the SKBP;

4. Encourages the secretariat to enhance the Scientific Knowledge Brokering Portal to increase access to databases on lessons learned and best practices in advocacy, awareness-raising and education, consistent with decision 17/COP.11 on the consideration of best practices in the implementation of the Convention;
4- يشجع الأمانة على تعزيز بوابة النظام الوسيط لنقل المعارف العلمية من أجل زيادة إمكانية الوصول إلى قواعد بيانات الدروس المستفادة وأفضل الممارسات في مجال الدعوة وإذكاء الوعي والتثقيف، تماشياً مع المقرر 17/م أ-11 المتعلق بالنظر في أفضل الممارسات في تنفيذ الاتفاقية؛

13. Requests the secretariat to facilitate cooperation between partners of the Scientific Knowledge Brokering Portal and the institution(s)/database(s) that will be tasked with the compilation and dissemination of relevant best practices pursuant to decision 15/COP.10;
13- يطلب إلى الأمانة أن تُسهل التعاون فيما بين شركاء بوابة النظام الوسيط لنقل المعارف العلمية والمؤسسة أو المؤسسات/قاعدة البيانات أو قواعد البيانات التي ستكلف بتجميع أفضل الممارسات ذات الصلة ونشرها، عملاً بالمقرر 15/م أ-10؛

14. Requests the secretariat to improve access to and use of tools/methods and data needed by Parties to report by providing links to these resources through the Scientific Knowledge Brokering Portal and, only when these resources are not already online, making them available on a website.
14- يطلب إلى الأمانة أن تحسن سبل وصول الأطراف إلى الأدوات/الأساليب والبيانات اللازمة واستخدامها وأن تقدم تقارير من خلال إتاحة وصلات إلى هذه الموارد عبر بوابة النظام الوسيط لنقل المعارف العلمية، وألا تتيح هذه الموارد على موقع شبكي إلا إذا لم تكن متاحة أصلا.

4. Further invites the Executive Secretary to regularly inform the Bureau of the Committee on Science and Technology on progress made on knowledge management, and the Bureau of the Committee on Science and Technology to provide guidance, as appropriate, on the further development of the Scientific Knowledge Brokering Portal;
4- يدعو كذلك الأمين التنفيذي إلى إعلام مكتب لجنة العلم والتكنولوجيا بانتظام بالتقدم المحرز في إدارة المعارف، ويدعو مكتب لجنة العلم والتكنولوجيا إلى تقديم توجيهات، حسب الاقتضاء، بشأن مواصلة تطوير بوابة النظام الوسيط لنقل المعارف العلمية؛

6. Emphasis is also placed on supporting the CST in the delivery of scientific knowledge to guide decision-making concerning UNCCD implementation through the provision of scientific advice and the development of the scientific knowledge Brokering Portal, among other means.

31. All the meetings of the Bureau of the CST enhanced the importance of the Scientific Knowledge Brokering Portal (SKBP). The SKBP is a search portal currently being developed by the UNCCD secretariat in order to improve access to, as well as the consumption of, scientific and technical information on desertification, land degradation, and drought (DLDD) matters.
