As a result of his work so far, the Special Rapporteur drew detailed conclusions in his report to the Commission in 1995 (E/CN.4/1995/56, paras. 61-66) concerning the factual situation, the causes of the violations which he determined to be widespread, and also the responsibility (both of the State and also of named individuals) for those violations.

In his report to the Commission at its fifty-first session the Special Rapporteur stated that the right to be free of any form of discrimination was clearly within his mandate and could be analysed in his forthcoming reports (E/CN.4/1995/68, para.40)

In his report to the Commission at its fifty-eighth session (E/CN.4/2002/72), the Special Rapporteur on the independence of judges and lawyers stated that several resolutions adopted by the Commission at its fifty-seventh session (2001/34, 2001/48, 2001/49 and 2001/50) were also pertinent to his mandate.

In his report to the Commission in 2000 (E/CN.4/2000/35), the Special Rapporteur on the situation of human rights in the Islamic Republic of Iran recalled that, starting modestly in 1991, the Bureau of Women's Affairs in the Office of the President had developed a number of programmes with the declared objective of realizing social justice and the advancement of women.

56. In his report to the Commission in 2000 (E/CN.4/2000/83), the Special Representative of the Secretary-General on internally displaced persons reaffirmed the particular needs of internally displaced women and children, who constitute the majority of internally displaced populations.
