1. In his report to the Security Council of 4 October 1999 (S/1999/1024), the Secretary-General presented a framework and concept of operations for the United Nations Transitional Administration in East Timor (UNTAET).
١ - قدم اﻷمين العام، في تقريره الى مجلس اﻷمن المؤرخ ٤ تشرين اﻷول/أكتوبر ١٩٩٩ )S/1999/1024(، إطارا ومفهوما لعمليات إدارة اﻷمم المتحدة الانتقالية في تيمور الشرقية.

As early as August 1964, in paragraph 7 of his report to the Security Council on the financial situation of UNFICYP, 3/ the Secretary-General noted, inter alia, that there was a gap of over $2 million between the estimated costs for UNFICYP for the period through 26 September 1964 and the amount of cash pledged for its support.
١٥ - ومنذ عهد بعيد يعود الى آب/اغسطس ١٩٦٤، لاحظ اﻷمين العام، في جملة أمور، في الفقرة ٧ من تقريره الى مجلس اﻷمن بشأن الحالة المالية للقوة)٣(، أن هناك فجوة تزيد على مليوني دولار بين التكاليف التقديرية للقوة للفترة الممتدة لغاية ٢٦ أيلول/سبتمبر ١٩٦٤ والمبالغ النقدية التي أعلن التبرع بها لدعم القوة.

2. Requests the Secretary-General, in his report to the Security Council concerning the further extension of UNOSOM II's mandate which should be submitted in good time before 18 November 1993, to report also on recent developments in Somalia in order to enable the Council to take appropriate decisions;
٢ - يطلب الى اﻷمين العام، لدى إعداد تقريره الى مجلس اﻷمن عن تمديد ولاية عملية اﻷمم المتحدة الثانية في الصومال لفترة أخرى، الذي ينبغي تقديمه قبل ١٨ تشرين الثاني/نوفمبر ١٩٩٣ بوقت كاف، أن يضمﱢن هذا التقرير أيضا التطورات التي وقعت مؤخرا في الصومال، وذلك لتمكين المجلس من اتخاذ القرارات المناسبة؛

5. As indicated in paragraphs 9 and 10 of the addendum, the Secretary-General, in his report to the Security Council of 18 March 1994 (S/1994/312), recommended that the mandate of UNOMIG be extended further to 30 June 1994 at its current strength of 21 military observers.

The Secretary-General, in his report to the Security Council (S/1994/760), had noted that the developments referred to in that report might again lead to delay in implementing a number of elements of the programme.

In his report to the Security Council, 3/ the Secretary-General apprised the Council of the situation on the ground in the context of the 14 May 1994 Agreement on a Cease-fire and Separation of Forces 4/ and the Quadripartite agreement on voluntary return of refugees and displaced persons, signed in Moscow on 14 April 1994. 5/

In his report to the Security Council of 18 June 1990 (S/21360), the then Secretary-General proposed a Settlement Plan, which provided for a cease-fire and the beginning of the transitional period, a reduction in the number of Moroccan troops in the Territory and confinement of the combatants of both sides to locations designated by the Special Representative of the Secretary-General.
وكان اﻷمين العام السابق قد اقترح في تقريره الى مجلس اﻷمن المؤرخ ١٨ حزيران/يونيه ١٩٩٠ (S/21360) خطة للتسوية، تنص على وقف ﻹطلاق النار وبدء فترة انتقالية وخفض لعدد القوات المغربية في اﻹقليم واقتصار وجود المقاتلين من الجانبين على المواقع التي يحددها الممثل الخاص لﻷمين العام.

In his report to the Security Council dated 7 June 1977, 4/ the Secretary-General stated that by 7 June 1977, the deficit had increased to $51.4 million and as a result, payments to troop-contributing Governments in respect of their extra and extraordinary costs for which they sought reimbursement by the United Nations had begun to lag behind.
١٦ - وقال اﻷمــين العام، في تقريره الى مجلس اﻷمن المؤرخ ٧ حزيران/يونيـــه ١٩٧٧)٤(، إنه بحلول ٧ حزيران/يونيه ١٩٧٧، إزداد العجز الى ٥١,٤ مليون دولار ونتيجة لذلك، بدأت تتأخر المدفوعات الى الحكومات المساهمة بقوات فيما يتعلق بتكاليفها اﻹضافية وغير العادية التي طلبت أن تسددها اﻷمم المتحدة.

During that visit, the Secretary-General presented to the parties - the Moroccan Government and the Frente POLISARIO leadership - a set of compromise proposals and requested them to respond to the proposals as soon as possible so as to allow him to submit his report to the Security Council in pursuance of resolution 809 (1993).
وخلال تلك الزيارة، قدم اﻷمين العام الى الطرفين - الحكومة المغربية وقيادة جبهة البوليساريو - مجموعة من المقترحات التوفيقية وطلب منهما الرد على المقترحات بأسرع ما يمكن حتى يتأتى له تقديم تقريره الى مجلس اﻷمن عملا بالقرار ٨٠٩ )١٩٩٣(.

7. In this connection, the Advisory Committee notes that in his report to the Security Council (S/1996/225), the Secretary-General stated that in the interest of economy and efficiency the number of military observers would be reduced by about 50: from 245 (the current number on board) to 195.
