Mr. Al-Shami (Yemen), speaking on behalf of the Group of 77 and China, said that 2010 was a significant year for women, marking the fifteenth anniversary of the Fourth World Conference on Women and the adoption by the General Assembly of a landmark resolution establishing the new United Nations Entity on Gender Equality and the Empowerment of Women (UN Women).

Mr. Shahbaz (Pakistan), speaking on behalf of the Group of 77 and China, said that the Group was pleased to note that the Cooperation Agreement with the United Nations Development Programme had contributed to promoting UNIDO's field presence, with thirteen UNIDO Desks being operational in all five programme regions at the end of 2007.
