12. Paragraph 11 (k) of resolution 1244 (1999) stipulates that the principal function of UNMIK in the humanitarian area is to ensure the safe and unimpeded return of all refugees and displaced persons to their homes in Kosovo.

59. In paragraph 11 (k) of Security Council resolution 1244 (1999), the Council states that the main responsibilities of the international civil presence will include " assuring the safe and unimpeded return of all refugees and displaced persons to their homes in Kosovo " .
