At the recent Pacific Regional seminar, the present Chairman of the Special Committee had said that it was the Committee's role to assist the peoples of Non-Self-Governing Territories in determining their political future without external interference, and that it was incumbent upon the Committee to take action towards that end.
16 - وأشار إلى أن الرئيس الحالي للجنة الخاصة قال، في الحلقة الدراسية الإقليمية لمنطقة المحيط الهادئ المعقودة مؤخرا، إن الدور المنوط باللجنة هو مساعدة شعوب الأقاليم غير المتمتعة بالحكم الذاتي في تقرير مستقبلها السياسي دون تدخل خارجي، وإنه يتوجب على اللجنة أن تتخذ إجراءات لتحقيق تلك الغاية.

China, which had consistently supported the peoples of Non-Self-Governing Territories in their efforts to exercise their right to self-determination, would continue to participate actively in the work of the Special Committee and cooperate closely with other Member States in order to bring the process of decolonization mandated by the Charter and the Declaration to a successful conclusion.

In recent years, the Special Committee had done much to help the peoples of Non-Self-Governing Territories to achieve self-determination, successfully promoting the holding of referendums in some Territories in order to determine their future political arrangements.
كما أن اللجنة الخاصة بذلت الكثير على مدى السنوات الأخيرة من أجل مساعدة شعوب الأقاليم غير المتمتعة بالحكم الذاتي في إعمال حقها في تقرير المصير، وأسهمت بنجاح في تشجيع إجراء استفتاءات في بعض الأقاليم لتحديد الترتيبات المتعلقة بالمستقبل السياسي لهذه الأقاليم.

Reaffirms the right of peoples of Non-Self-Governing Territories to self-determination in conformity with the Charter of the United Nations and with General Assembly resolution 1514 (XV), containing the Declaration on the Granting of Independence to Colonial Countries and Peoples, as well as their right to the enjoyment of their natural resources and their right to dispose of those resources in their best interest;

For Territories that did not choose independence, the United States fully supported the right of the peoples of the Non-Self-Governing Territories to a full measure of self-government if that was what they chose.
أما بالنسبة للأقاليم التي لا ترغب في نيل استقلالها، فإن الولايات المتحدة تؤيد تماما حق شعوب الأقاليم غير المتمتعة بالحكم الذاتي في أن تتمتع بالحكم الذاتي بالكامل إذا ما أرادت ذلك.

90. The Special Committee considered the question of economic and other activities that affect the interests of the peoples of the Non-Self-Governing Territories at its 7th meeting, on 20 June 2007.

30. The representative of the Front de libération nationale kanak socialiste (FLNKS) of New Caledonia stated that it was important for the General Assembly to maintain its efforts to support the peoples of the Non-Self-Governing Territories in their quest for emancipation and sovereignty.

7. The work ahead during the Third International Decade highlighted the urgent need to support the peoples of the Non-Self-Governing Territories in establishing full self-government under the Charter of the United Nations The Fourth Committee must meet the expectations of those peoples by reinvigorating the recently rather lacklustre decolonization processes.
7 - وأشار إلى أن العمل الذي سيضطلع به خلال العقد الدولي الثالث يبرز الحاجة الملحة لدعم شعوب الأقاليم غير المتمتعة بالحكم الذاتي في إقامة حكم ذاتي كامل في إطار ميثاق الأمم المتحدة.

" (f) To conduct seminars, as appropriate, for the purpose of receiving and disseminating information on the work of the Special Committee, and to facilitate participation by the peoples of the Non-Self-Governing Territories in those seminars;

5. Mr. Demekhin (Russian Federation) said that his Government consistently advocated the right of the peoples of the Non-Self-Governing Territories to self-determination and independence.
5 - السيد ديميخين (الاتحاد الروسي): قال إن حكومته تدافع باستمرار عن حق شعوب الأقاليم غير المتمتعة بالحكم الذاتي في تقرير المصير والاستقلال.

93. The Special Committee considered the question of economic and other activities that affect the interests of the peoples of the Non-Self-Governing Territories at its 8th meeting, on 12 June 2008.
93 - نظرت اللجنة الخاصة في مسألة الأنشطة الاقتصادية وغيرها من الأنشطة التي تؤثر على مصالح شعوب الأقاليم غير المتمتعة بالحكم الذاتي في جلستها الثامنة المعقودة في 12 حزيران/يونيه 2008.

As in the past, the Committee would also celebrate the Week of Solidarity with the peoples of Non-Self-Governing Territories at the seminar.
وكما حدث في الماضي سوف تحتفل اللجنة أيضا بأسبوع التضامن مع شعوب الأقاليم غير المتمتعة بالحكم الذاتي في الحلقة الدراسية.

On the basis of the information imparted at the Seminar, the Special Committee believes it will be in a better position to understand and respond to the needs of the peoples of the Non-Self-Governing Territories in the Pacific.
وعلى أساس المعلومات المفصح عنها في الحلقة الدراسية، تعتقد اللجنة الخاصة أنها ستكون في وضع أفضل لفهم احتياجات شعوب اﻷقاليم غير المتمتعة بالحكم الذاتي في منطقة المحيط الهادئ والاستجابة لها.

12. The Special Committee had historically acted as a channel for the United Nations to help the peoples of Non-Self Governing Territories to determine their political future without external interference.
12 - وقال إن اللجنة الخاصة دأبت على العمل كقناة من قنوات الأمم المتحدة لمساعدة شعوب الأقاليم غير المتمتعة بالحكم الذاتي في تقرير مستقبلها السياسي دون تدخل خارجي.

The Special Committee has been greatly encouraged by the growing interest and participation of the people in the Non-Self-Governing Territories in the regional seminars it conducts annually and by the wider participation of Member States, specialized agencies and programmes, non-governmental organizations and experts.
وتشجعت اللجنة الخاصة كثيرا من اهتمام ومشاركة شعوب الأقاليم غير المتمتعة بالحكم الذاتي في الحلقات الدراسية الإقليمية التي تجريها سنويا وبمشاركة الدول الأعضاء والمنظمات غير الحكومية والوكالات والبرامج المتخصصة والخبراء على نطاق واسع.

The United States fully supported the right of the people of the Non-Self-Governing Territories to self-government.
وتؤيد الولايات المتحدة تأييدا كاملا حق شعوب اﻷقاليم غير المتمتعة بالحكم الذاتي في الحصول على الحكم الذاتي.

He hoped that the Special Committee would succeed in preserving its political mandate and in continuing to play an effective role in support of the peoples of the Non-Self-Governing Territories in their evolution towards self-determination in accordance with their political aspirations.
واستطرد قائلا إنه يأمل في أن تنجح اللجنة الخاصة في الحفاظ على ولايتها السياسية وأن تستمر في أداء دورها الفعال في تقديم الدعم إلى شعوب اﻷقاليم غير المتمتعة بالحكم الذاتي في سبيل تقرير مصيرها وفقا لطموحاتها السياسية.
