1. The area covered by each application for approval of a plan of work for exploration for cobalt-rich crusts shall be comprised of not more than 100 blocks which shall be arranged by the applicant in clusters, as set out in paragraph 2 below.

4. At its nineteenth session, in 2013, the Council approved applications for approval of plans of work for exploration for cobalt-rich ferromanganese crusts by China Ocean Mineral Resources Research and Development Association (COMRA) and Japan Oil, Gas and Metals National Corporation (JOGMEC).

وإذ يلاحظ أنه، في 3 آب/أغسطس 2012، قدمت الشركة اليابانية الوطنية للنفط والغاز والمعادن طلبا إلى الأمين العام للموافقة على خطة عمل لاستكشاف القشور المنغنيزية الحديدية الغنية بالكوبالت في المنطقة()، وفقا لـنظام التنقيب عن القشور المنغنيزية الحديدية الغنية بالكوبالت واستكشافها داخل المنطقة()،
