718. While acknowledging that the minimum age of marriage is set federally at 18 years, the Committee notes with concern that the legislation of most states and the customary law allows for early marriages, and girls can be forced into marriage as soon as they reach puberty.

(12) While taking note of the legislative proposals in the area of racial discrimination, the Committee notes with concern that there is still no clear definition of racial discrimination in Chilean law (art. 1).

While acknowledging the State party's emphasis on working in cooperation with civil society organizations and the fact that some of those organizations participated in the preparation of the State party's reports, the Committee notes with concern that not all such organizations could fully participate in this process.

(13) While the Committee appreciates progress made in practice in the area of equality for men and women in the public service, it notes with concern that the number of women in senior positions is still very low.
