٢٣ - لن تنجح التدابير المقترحة الواردة أعلاه لتنشيط المعهد ما لم تسو اﻷزمة المالية، وهذا يعني معالجة المشكلة العاجلة وهي مشكلة التمويل ليتسنى للمعهد إعداد ميزانية برنامجية للفترة ٢٠٠٠-٢٠٠١ وتحقيق استقراره المالي لفترة أطول.

At present, the secretariat has not only complied with all requests of the Assembly to propose a strategy for the revitalization of INSTRAW but has also exhausted all attempts to persuade donors to contribute adequate funds to the Institute.

The General Assembly may wish to take note of the financial situation of INSTRAW outlined above and recall that in its resolution 60/229 it decided to provide its full support for the current efforts to revitalize the Institute and in this regard provide it with the requisite funds to enable it to carry out its core functions for 2007.

Draft resolution A/C.3/60/L.15/Rev.1, on the future operation of INSTRAW, by which the General Assembly would decide to provide its full support to the current efforts to revitalize INSTRAW and to provide it with the requisite funds to enable it to carry out its core functions for the 2006-2007 biennium, was adopted by the Third Committee at its 43rd meeting, on 18 November 2005.
