1. Express appreciation to the member States that have made generous pledges to the International Conference Humanitarian Trust Fund, namely, the Republic of Uganda ($1,000,000); the Democratic Republic of the Congo ($1,000,000); the United Republic of Tanzania ($500,000); the Republic of Kenya ($500,000); and urge other member States to also contribute to the Trust Fund;

On 14 and 15 January, the fifth ordinary Summit of the International Conference on the Great Lakes Region (ICGLR) was held in Luanda under the chairmanship of the President of Angola, José Eduardo dos Santos, who took over from the President of Uganda, Yoweri Museveni.

At the invitation of the Government of the Republic of Uganda, the fifth International Conference on the Great Lakes Region (ICGLR) Extraordinary Regional Inter-Ministerial Committee Meeting (RIMC) on the security situation in eastern Democratic Republic of the Congo took place on 20 November 2012;

Mr. Chileya (Assistant Executive Secretary, International Conference of the Great Lakes Region (ICGLR)), speaking by video link from Bujumbura on behalf of the Executive Secretary of ICGLR, commended the Commission and the Government of Burundi for their efforts to create a climate conducive to free and fair elections and welcomed the draft recommendations.
