2. Endorses also the findings of the report of the Secretary-General of the World Conference on Natural Disaster Reduction concerning the implementation of the International Framework of Action for the International Decade for Natural Disaster Reduction;

14. At the 43rd meeting, the Chairman of the Advisory Committee said that the Secretary-General, in document A/C.5/48/58, had indicated that the preparatory work for the World Conference on Natural Disaster Reduction would require conference services estimated at $709,600 on a full-cost basis.

By decision 1993/328, the Council recommended that the General Assembly, at its forty-eighth session, give further consideration to the plans and preparations for the World Conference on Natural Disaster Reduction and to the report of the Secretary-General on the International Decade for Natural Disaster Reduction.

The President: In his note the Secretary-General informs the General Assembly that in its decision 1 of 18 March 1994 the Preparatory Committee for the World Conference on Natural Disaster Reduction decided to recommend to the General Assembly the adoption of a draft decision.

Reviewed disasters at Mount Pinatubo in the Philippines, Mount Unzen in Japan, and floods in China; adopted demonstration projects related to tropical cyclones, volcano hazards, earthquake hazards, information systems, education/research/training, risk assessment/preventive actions, public health, international centres, and megacities; and reviewed and endorsed plans for the World Conference on Natural Disaster Reduction.

23. At the 3rd meeting, on 18 March, the Chairman of the Preparatory Committee, on behalf of the working group on procedures, introduced a draft decision (A/CONF.172/PC/L.8, draft decision I) entitled " Provisional rules of procedure for the World Conference on Natural Disaster Reduction " .
