In her response, the Director of the Africa Division assured those delegations that felt that the Uganda programme might be too ambitious that the programme responded effectively to the country’s needs and had been designed in support of the Government’s goals.
٢٢٥ - وردا على التساؤلات السابقة، أكدت مديرة شعبة أفريقيا للوفود التي ارتأت أن برنامج أوغندا ربما كان طموحا أكثر من اللازم، أن البرنامج يلبي احتياجات البلد بصورة فعالة ووُضع لدعم أهداف الحكومة.

75. As regards Kenya, the Director of the Africa Division reported that UNFPA was trying to improve coordination and to focus more on rural areas.
٥٧ - وفيما يتعلق بكينيا، أفادت مديرة شعبة أفريقيا بأن صندوق اﻷمم المتحدة للسكان يحاول تحسين التنسيق وزيادة التركيز على المناطق الريفية.

77. The Director of the Africa Division stated that in the United Republic of Tanzania, as in other African countries, there was considerable cultural resistance to some of the activities being carried out, and the Fund had to look at ways of overcoming that.
٧٧ - وذكرت مديرة شعبة أفريقيا أن في جمهورية تنزانيا المتحدة، كما في غيرها من البلدان اﻷفريقية، مقاومة ثقافية شديدة لبعض اﻷنشطة التي يجري الاضطلاع بها، وأن على الصندوق أن ينظر في طرق التغلب على ذلك.

78. The Director of the Africa Division stated that she found the assertion that there was no sense of national ownership of the Zambia country programme to be very disturbing.
٨٧ - وذكرت مديرة شعبة أفريقيا أنها وجدت التأكيد بعدم وجود إحساس بالملكية الوطنية تجاه البرنامج القطري لزامبيا أمرا مثيرا للقلق البالغ.

100. The Director of the Africa Division noted that all UNFPA country programmes included demographic indicators that were specified in detail in the logical framework of each programme.

208. In her introduction to the proposed programme for Zimbabwe, the Director of the Africa Division informed delegations that under the new approach for resource allocation, Zimbabwe would be classified as a " B " country.
٢٠٨ - قدمت مديرة شعبة أفريقيا البرنامج المقترح لزمبابوي فأبلغت الوفود بأنه وفقا للنهج الجديد لتخصيص الموارد ستُصنف زمبابوي في بلدان الفئة باء.

210. In her reply, the Director of the Africa Division said that effective collaboration among donor agencies in Zimbabwe was a priority and one that UNFPA was pursuing.
٢١٠ - وقالت مديرة شعبة أفريقيا في ردها إن التعاون الفعال بين الوكالات المانحة في زمبابوي هو أولوية من اﻷولويات التي يسعى إليها صندوق اﻷمم المتحدة للسكان.

215. The Director of the Africa Division reported that population activities in Madagascar had seen an extraordinary development in recent years because of increasing government commitment and the success of IEC efforts.
٢١٥ - ذكرت مديرة شعبة أفريقيا أن اﻷنشطة السكانية في مدغشقر شهدت تطورا كبيرا في السنوات اﻷخيرة بسبب زيادة التزام الحكومة وبسبب نجاح جهود اﻹعلام والتعليم والدعوة.

With regard to the question about the rapid rise of the HIV/AIDS epidemic, the Director of the Africa Division noted that that was an important concern for the Fund; indeed, the entire United Nations system was engaged in addressing the HIV/AIDS challenge.
١٣١ - وبخصوص السؤال حول الزيادة السريعة في انتشار وباء فيروس نقص المناعة البشرية/اﻹيدز أشارت مديرة شعبة أفريقيا إلى أن ذلك يشكل مصدر قلق كبير للصندوق؛ وقالت إن منظومة اﻷمم المتحدة بأجمعها تشارك عمليا في مواجهة التحدي الذي يفرضه هذا الوباء.
