٨ - تدعــو لجنة مركز المرأة إلى التصدي خلال دورتها الثانية واﻷربعين لقضية العنف ضد العاملات المهاجرات، وذلك في إطار المسائل المتعلقة بموضوعي العنف الموجه ضد المرأة و/أو حقوق اﻹنسان الخاصة بالمرأة؛

The invitation extended by the Commission on the Status of Women to the President of the IPU Coordinating Committee of Women Parliamentarians to its 1997 session, as a part of a panel on women in decision-making, deserves to be commended.
وإن الدعوة التي وجهتها لجنة مركز المرأة إلى رئيس لجنة التنسيق للبرلمانيات التابعة للاتحاد البرلماني الدولي في دورتها لعام ١٩٩٧، كجزء من فرقة معنيــــة بالمرأة في مجال صنع القرارات، تستحق الثناء.

2. The Council may wish to invite the Commission on the Status of Women to monitor and assess the outcomes of other functional commissions’ work as to their treatment of mainstreaming a gender perspective in their work and to report thereon to the Council.

During the last half-century, two fundamental developments have been discernible. First, emphasis on human rights issues in population policies and programmes has increased. Second, gender policies have expanded from a focus on the Status of Women to gender equality, equity and the empowerment of women.
وشهد نصف القرن الأخير تطورين أساسيين ملحوظين أولهما زيادة التشديد على قضايا حقوق الإنسان في السياسات والبرامج السكانية، وثانيهما اتساع نطاق السياسات الجنسانية من مجرد التركيز على مركز المرأة إلى تحقيق المساواة والإنصاف بين الجنسين وتمكين المرأة.

Thus, the General Assembly, on 5 December 1963, adopted its resolution 1921 (XVIII), in which it requested the Economic and Social Council to invite the Commission on the Status of Women to prepare a draft declaration that would combine in a single instrument international standards articulating the equal rights of men and women.
ولذلك فقد اتخذت الجمعية العامة في ٥ كانون اﻷول/ديسمبر ١٩٦٣ القرار ١٩٢١ )د - ١٨( الذي طلبت فيه من المجلس الاقتصادي والاجتماعي أن يدعو لجنة مركز المرأة إلى إعداد مشروع إعلان يجمع المعايير الدولية في صك واحد ويبين بوضوح الحق في تمتع الرجال والنساء بحقوق متساوية.

3. The Assembly invited the Commission on the Status of Women to address the issue of harmful traditional or customary practices during its review of the critical areas of concern – namely, “Violence against women”, “The girl child” and “Human rights of women” at its forty-second session, in 1998, and “Women and health” at its forty-third session, in 1999.
٣ - ودعت الجمعية العامة لجنة مركز المرأة إلى تناول مسألة الممارسات التقليدية أو العرفية الضارة أثناء استعراضها لمجالات الاهتمام الحاسمة، أي " العنف ضد المرأة " ، و " الطفلة " ، و " حقوق اﻹنسان للمرأة " في دورتها الثانية واﻷربعين المعقودة في عام ٨٩٩١، و " المرأة والصحة " في دورتها الثالثة واﻷربعين المعقودة في عام ٩٩٩١.
