285. With regard to the establishment of a national human rights institution, Palau had accepted this recommendation. It continued to work with the Pacific Islands Forum Secretariat and the Asia Pacific Forum through consultations to develop awareness and determine the capacity and resources of Palau to fulfil its relevant obligations.

OCO has since 2004 been engaged in assisting member customs administrations undertake legislative reforms based on the regional customs model law that was developed in collaboration with the Pacific Islands Forum Secretariat on the basis of concerns by Pacific leaders that some legislations were outdated and lacked a mandate for customs authorities to enforce border and security responsibilities.

21. The United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) informed that Tuvalu participated from 23 to 27 June 2007 in the subregional consultation workshop on measures for the legislative implementation of the legal regime against terrorism in the Pacific region and related technical assistance delivery, organized in collaboration with the Pacific Islands Forum Secretariat.
21- أبلغ مكتب الأمم المتحدة المعني بالمخدرات والجريمة أن توفالو شاركت في الفترة من 23 إلى 27 حزيران/يونيه 2007 في حلقة العمل دون الإقليمية للتشاور بشأن التدابير الخاصة بالتنفيذ التشريعي للنظام القانوني لمكافحة الإرهاب في منطقة المحيط الهادئ وتقديم المساعدة التقنية المرتبط به، وفد نظمت الحلقة بالتعاون مع أمانة منتدى جزر المحيط الهادئ(35).

2. Affirm the usefulness and appropriateness of the technical assistance services offered by UNODC/TPB for the legal implementation of the above instruments, in partnership with the PIFS and in coordination with other relevant providers of assistance;
2 - نؤكد فائدة وملاءمة خدمات المساعدة التقنية التي يقدمها مكتب الأمم المتحدة المعني بالمخدرات والجريمة/فرع منع الإرهاب من أجل التنفيذ القانوني للصكوك المذكورة أعلاه، بالشراكة مع أمانة منتدى جزر المحيط الهادئ وبالتنسيق مع غيرها من الجهات ذات الصلة بتقديم المساعدة؛

6. Request UNODC/TPB to take the necessary steps for meeting the requests expeditiously upon their submission, in partnership with the PIFS and achieving complementarity and synergy with other relevant initiatives of the PIFS, taking into account other donor agencies;
