Member States agreed to support joint capacity-building activities in forest biodiversity and climate change by the two secretariats, to promote regional cooperation, including South-South cooperation on forests, and to streamline forest-related reporting, in cooperation with the Collaborative Partnership on Forests.

3. In resolution 2/3, the Forum invited its secretariat, in collaboration with the Collaborative Partnership on Forests, to identify and propose at its fourth session a process to facilitate the carrying out of the review on the effectiveness of the international arrangement on forests at its fifth session.

(a) Its secretariat, in cooperation with the Collaborative Partnership on Forests and taking into account the work of the ad hoc expert groups, to gather baseline information relevant to the specific criteria;

At the 12th meeting, on 22 June, the Forum had before it a draft decision entitled " Initiation of the work of the United Nations Forum on Forests with the Collaborative Partnership on Forests " , submitted as a result of consultations held in Working Group II under the chairmanship of the Vice-Chairman of the Forum, Mr. Slamet Hidayat (Indonesia).

(b) Develop guidelines for national and international agencies by a consultant, in consultation with the Collaborative Partnership on Forests, under the terms of references co-written by the Secretariats of the United Nations Forum on Forests and the Convention on Biological Diversity:

The first substantive session of the Forum is planned in mid-2001 in order, inter alia, to adopt its multi-year programme of work, to develop a plan of action for the implementation of the proposals for action of the Intergovernmental Panel on Forests/Intergovernmental Forum on Forests and to initiate its work with the Collaborative Partnership on forests.

14. During the thirty-ninth session of the International Tropical Timber Council, held from 7 to 12 November 2005, the Council approved a programme to support the Forum and its secretariat and to cooperate with the Collaborative Partnership on Forests in various joint programmes in its newly approved biennial programme of work for 2006-2007.
14 - ووافق المجلس الدولي للأخشاب المدارية، خلال دورته التاسعة والثلاثين التي عقدت خلال الفترة من 7 إلى 12 تشرين الثاني/نوفمبر 2005، على برنامج لدعم المنتدى وأمانته وللتعاون مع الشراكة التعاونية في مجال الغابات في برامج مشتركة متنوعة في إطار برنامج عمله لفترة السنتين 2006 - 2007 الذي تمت الموافقة عليه مؤخرا.

(i) Request the secretariat of the United Nations Forum on Forests, in close cooperation with the Collaborative Partnership on Forests and other key actors, to undertake work on REDD-plus and forest financing, including the implications of REDD-plus funding on broader forest financing to be undertaken within the facilitative process;

(g) Promote a forest landscape restoration strategy as a joint initiative with the Collaborative Partnership on Forests, building on the work of the Global Partnership on Forest Landscape Restoration and as a means of deciding on the best ecosystem choices available as well as to restore the appropriate balance between human beings and nature in forest landscapes.
(ز) الترويج لوضع استراتيجية تُعيد للغابات مناظرها الطبيعية باعتبارها مبادرة مشتركة مع الشراكة التعاونية المعنية بالغابات، مع الاستعانة بالعمل الذي تقوم به الشراكة العالمية لاستعادة هيئة الغابات وكوسيلة للبت في أفضل الخيارات المتاحة للنظم الإيكولوجية وكذلك لاستعادة التوازن الملائم بين البشر والطبيعة في الغابات بهيئتها ومناظرها الطبيعية.

The Forum may wish to consider the following common items that are not considered in the context of item 3 (see above) as self-standing agenda items: multi-stakeholder dialogue; enhanced cooperation and policy and programme coordination, inter alia, with the Collaborative Partnership on Forests; and intersessional work, including further discussion concerning the ad hoc expert groups.
