III. Placement of op-eds by United Nations information centres

The placement of op-eds by the Secretary-General and other United Nations senior officials in major newspapers/media outlets and in local languages raises the visibility of the Organization and its work.
ويسهم نشر مقالات الرأي التي يكتبها الأمين العام وغيره من كبار المسؤولين بالأمم المتحدة في كبريات الصحف/المنافذ الإعلامية وباللغات المحلية في تعزيز صورة المنظمة وعملها.

To promote peace and security, the centres organized educational activities such as courses, lectures and briefings for students, in addition to press conferences, debates, live video-chats, radio programmes, interviews, press releases, placement of op-ed articles, conferences and special websites.

Over the past year, the Department used the services of a focal point at Headquarters, as well as its worldwide network of information centres, to ensure the placement of some 30 op-ed pieces, a third of them by the Secretary-General.
