63. In adopting the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities on 13 December 2006 (resolution 61/106), the General Assembly requested the Secretary-General to implement progressively standards and guidelines for the accessibility of facilities and services of the United Nations system.

In compliance with General Assembly resolution 61/106, requesting the Secretary-General to progressively implement standards and guidelines for the accessibility of facilities and services of the United Nations system, the Department has developed technical standards to assist departments and offices across the Secretariat in producing accessible Web content.
