Obstacles which impede persons living in poverty from accessing justice
ثالثا - العقبات التي تعيق لجوء مَن يعيشون في فقر إلى القضاء

The interdependence of all human rights is unequivocal when considering the situation of persons living in poverty, which is both a cause and a consequence of a range of mutually reinforcing human rights violations.
وترابط كافة حقوق الإنسان أمر لا لبس فيه متى نظرنا في حالة حقوق مَن يعيشون في فقر. والفقر سبب ونتيجة لطائفة من انتهاكات لحقوق الإنسان يعزز بعضها بعضاً.

First, owing to their vulnerability, persons living in poverty are more likely to fall victim to criminal or illegal acts, including sexual or economic exploitation, violence, torture and murder.
أولها أنه نظراً لضعف مَن يعيشون في فقر فإنهم الأكثر قابلية للسقوط ضحايا للأعمال الإجرامية أو غير المشروعة، بما فيها الاستغلال الجنسي أو الاقتصادي، والعنف، والتعذيب، والقتل.

C. Institutional and structural obstacles in the justice chain 35. persons living in poverty face obstacles in each of the steps that they must take to seek redress through the formal justice system.
35 - يواجه مَن يعيشون في فقر عقبات في كل خطوة يتعين أن يخطوها التماساً للإنصاف عبر نظام العدالة الرسمية.

In such circumstances, persons living in poverty often have to travel long distances at great cost to engage with the justice system, exposing themselves to unfamiliar environments and unsafe conditions.
وفي مثل هذه الظروف، غالباً ما يتعين على مَن يعيشون في فقر السفر لمسافات بعيدة بتكاليف كبيرة للتعامل مع نظام العدالة، مما يعرّضهم لبيئات غير مألوفة وظروف غير مأمونة.

When there is a big disparity in the economic or social status of litigants, as is often the case when those living in poverty seek redress for grievances against more powerful parties, there is a high risk of an unequal trial.
